Shannon Guzman is a senior strategic policy advisor with the AARP Public Policy Institute, focusing on livable communities issues including housing, transportation and other supportive community services. Ms. Guzman’s work on the Livability Index, the Future of Housing initiative, livable and age-friendly communities policy, as well as her public appearances, inform local decision makers and other key stakeholders about aging and assist in their efforts to support residents who want to age in place. She has also authored and co-authored publications on housing, community livability, and transportation. Prior to joining AARP, Ms. Guzman was a senior planner for the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission where she worked on long-range, comprehensive and neighborhood planning projects. She received a Master of Community Planning from the University of Maryland and an MA in communications, culture, and technology from Georgetown University.
