Affordable Housing Viewed Through the Economic Lens
Affordable housing is a key driver of economic growth. It is central to creating a just, equitable economy. With a preponderance of low wage jobs across Florida and the rising cost of housing, the need for investment in affordable housing is at an all-time high. However, state budget decisions over the last decade have disincentivized affordable housing spending. This presentation provides an overview of Florida’s state budget priorities, the economic impact of affordable housing development, and what the state can do to increase investment and ensure housing affordability for more Floridians. You will come away from this session with the economic facts that support using all the housing trust funds for housing.
