Diversion Away from Homelessness

Often, our immediate response is to offer a pre-determined array of services and shelter to a person experiencing a housing crisis rather than helping to identify alternative housing options. Understanding that resources in homeless systems are limited, it is imperative to divert people with options away from the homeless system; leaving shelters, support, and resources for the most vulnerable people who lack housing alternatives. This session offers real-time strategies for implementing a robust diversion program from service providers in Florida who are actively using this intervention and discuss how diversion can play a role in improving HMIS System Performance Measures.
