Implementing the Local Government Preference for Housing Tax Credits

Over the past four years, FHFC has implemented a new system in which local governments have a much more significant role in selecting the 9% Housing Credit development approved in their community. This began with a one-county pilot, was expanded to six of the seven large counties, and then expanded to include medium counties. How does the preference work? How can a local government implement its local priorities through this system? What is a “best practices” guide for the selection of the preference development? All of these are covered in this workshop which can be the key to meaningful involvement of local government in the Tax Credit selection process.
