Dorene Barker

Dorene Barker earned her Juris Doctorate at Florida State University, College of Law. After graduation she volunteered as an Emeritus Attorney for seniors where she received numerous Community Service Awards including recognition by Governor Chiles for pro bona legal representation. Dorene was the Legislative Director for Florida Legal Services, Inc. where she remained for nearly 20 years. She was honored as first runner-up for Stephen M. Goldstein Award for Excellence by the Florida Bar Foundation. During her time at FLS, Ms. Barker also joined the Florida State University, College of Law as an Adjunct Professor where she taught 2nd and 3rd year law students. She has been with AARP for 3.5 years, focusing her attention on housing, predatory lending, telehealth, Medicaid, and long term care.
