Sonya Burns

Gadsden County
SHIP Administrator

Sonya Denise Burns currently serves as the Gadsden County’s SHIP Administrator. I have been an employee of Gadsden County since 2000. I was promoted to SHIP Administrator in 2018, shortly after Hurricane Michael. I love my job and I am proud to serve the residents of Gadsden County. It gives me great pleasure to be able to help those in need, whether small or large. I have had the pleasure of overseeing many projects during my years of service, but the one I am most proud of is the Demo Replacement that was completed with SHIP & CDBG Funds last year. I was overjoyed to see the finished product and the reaction of the family. Gadsden County SHIP was recently nominated/awarded partner of the year by the United Way of Big Bend for all of our hard work and assistance to the residents of Gadsden County. I will continue to serve our residents and county with PRIDE and RESPECT. I was born and raised in Quincy, Florida, a small town located in the heart of Gadsden County. I am the proud mother of a smart and intelligent middle school aged daughter, Logan Ciara Drye. I received my degree in Business Administration from Tallahassee Community College.
