Program Director, Disaster Case Management Hurricane Michael

Susan George is the Director of the Hurricane Michael DCMP for Volunteer Florida. Susan joined the Volunteer Florida team in October, 2019. She has an extensive emergency management background, working in both public and private sector. She first began working for the Florida Division of Emergency Management in 1998 during the El Nino Weather Events activation. Moving forward Susan has worked many major disasters that affected Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Texas and Louisiana to include just under 20 hurricanes, multiple flood events, wild fire activations, nuclear power plant and thunderbolt exercises. Susan is certified as an EMAP Assessor, a member of FEPA, served on disaster deployments including Florida Area Command for Hurricane Katrina, State Incident Management Team for Hurricane Wilma, County EOC support and initial RECON with Fire and Rescue and VOAD support in Pasco County (Irma). Susan also has an extensive background in Federal Grant Management including CDBG-DR grants
