FCDA “Show Me the Money”: Maximizing Funding Opportunities to Develop Affordable Housing

This workshop offers a panel of Housing and Community Development experts to identify ways to increase affordability. Leveraging can be a useful tool for financing affordable housing and community and economic development projects and generally is regarded favorably by public and private sector officials. The inclusion of federal, local, and state funds in the financing of housing and community projects helps to spread the investment risk between potential private sector investors and the governmental agencies, thereby encouraging private sector participation in development. This workshop will demonstrate effective uses of all resources including land use policy, accessing publicly owned real estate, impact fee waivers, and funding opportunities to create a more affordable housing product.
